If you're a avid festival-goer (like myself), you'll know that all you want to do is wear something comfortable while you're on your feet all day.

Over the years I've gone for your standard converse and Levi shorts combination, midi skirts and crop tops and last year a playsuit - which wasn't easy when it came to using the portable loos.

So this year at Lovebox, I opted for my trusty patent Dr Martens, oversized denim jacket and a slogan choker t-shirt dress - which couldn't have felt more perfect. Especially in unpredictable British weather.

Slouchy enough to allow easy dancing but figure-flattering enough with the choker detail, there was no need to worry about anything falling out, riding up and how am I going to take this off to go the toilet?!

And what's even better, this t-shirt dress only cost £10 from PrettyLittleThing.com

But if you're looking for a few more options, here are a few on the high street that are just as reasonable

City breaks are usually the hardest (in my opinion) to pack for, especially when you're travelling with carry on luggage. And if you're going to a city with a beach like a Porto, it's a question of how many shorts, dresses and sandals should I bring?

With temperatures expected to reach up to 30°C in the Portuguese coastal city by the last day, the staples for the trip drew down to culottes, t-shirt and off the shoulder dresses and a playsuit for the four days (and of course a bikini).

So if you're travelling anytime soon, whether it be to Porto, or another city - here's what I recommend packing

Playsuits

Great for roaming the hilly streets of a city like Porto, especially in 30°C heat. Trendy enough to wear into the evening at a riverside restaurant.

Off The Shoulder Dresses

This style is so in this summer, and perfect if you don't like attracting too much attention to your arms. Works well for a day and night look, especially at a salsa-swinging bar.

T-shirt Dresses

Comfortable to wear all day long when you're doing a lot of walking, and want to rock something not too figure hugging and long to still get that tan on your legs.

Swimwear

What's a beach city break without a few hours at the beach. The higher on the waist, the better in my opinion and the high street seems to agree with most styles being high-waist now. Here's a similar style to the one I wore from ASOS

There's certain styles of shoes that are perfect for the summer. And mules are certainly this seasons hottest one.

From classic flats to mid heels and platforms, you can't think of a more comfier style to rock on sunny days like today. They go with everything from jeans, to culottes and maxi skirts, especially if you prefer slip on style.

So with the selection on the high street right now (and the start of the sales), I've made the task just that little easier for you with my top picks below.

The perfect platform mules with a funky jacquard pattern to rock on those warm summer nights

Just the right height to wear all day long with your favourite culottes to show off that strap detail.

These mid-heeled mules add a pop of colour and look great with a pair of ankle grazers

And if you're looking for something flat but eye-catching print-wise, these floral mules are ideal.
